News from our local forum:
Hello all
Simon Wearne, a cinematographer and university professor from Australia, along with an international support team is hoping to find talented film-makers for the upcoming Jeju Peace Island Film festival. The festival is due to take place in late-November.
This is a call to anyone on the island who would be willing to submit a feature based around the themes of peace and islands. There is no need for experience in the field, all that is needed is commitment and the ability to provide a film for the festival. This is an opportunity to have an international airing of your talent.
The theme is quite broad and feel free to develop your own interpretation of islands of peace. This could involve a foreigner's perspective of life on Jeju, or other explorations of cultural inter-change or difference.
The organisers have already compiled a prestigious catalogue of international films for presentation and would like to present local amateur film-makers alongside them. If you are interested or know someone else who is please contact me at jejusouthcott@ yahoo.com and I can put you in contact with the organisation team.
This is open to all on Jeju, from teachers to students and Koreans to foreigners.
Thanks
Darren
